KPU’s mobile adoption units are purpose-built to house kittens or puppies. Made with animal safe materials and able to be completely disassembled and sanitized, our units are self-contained, comfortable spaces for short-term housing following FearFree principles and thoughtful design practices. Plexiglass and acrylic wall construction create a moderate sound barrier and an open top gives adequate air circulation. A KPU volunteer will be in attendance for any event; shelters are welcome to send their own staff and volunteers as well. Units are hosted for up-to 3 hours at businesses, events, and community spaces.

Interested in adopting?

KPU helps facilitate adoptions for kittens and puppies from our local rescues and shelters. Applying to KPU means you recognize the responsibility of adopting a young animal into your home and caring for the whole life of that animal. We provide information and resources locally relevant to our adopters, so you can accept this responsibility with confidence.

All animals adopted through KPU meet adoption requirements from their care organizations. We will help you with the adoption process provided by their shelters and help you understand your agreements and requirements as an adopter. Animal safety is a top priority for us, and all protocols are designed for this purpose.

All graduates of our program receive a detailed information packet for animal care, the kitten(s) or puppy(ies) of their choice, and a graduation cap and diploma for their new family member.
