Building the Dream
Foster homes give dogs and cats greater adoption success. But, the public can’t come to our personal homes to meet these wonderful animals. By creating a facility that prioritizes a home-like atmosphere and caring socialization, meowWOOF is bridging the gap between public access and foster homes.
Our housing facility and cafe will use shipping containers as our primary structures, designed for cat and dog safety, comfort, and fun with human visitors in mind. The kitty lounge and puppy patio will feature indoor and outdoor areas separated by a human-oriented cafe from which visitors can observe. Visitor occupancy into the cat and dog sides will be controlled through scheduled reservations and special events, but the cafe will be available for tea, coffee, sundries, and reservation purchases without prior reservation required. Each side will have an entryway with self-closing doors and isolated HVAC systems to meet food safety requirements. All proceeds from the cafe will feed, house, and provide veterinary care for our adoptable cats and dogs.
Behind the public areas, staff and volunteers will have access to specially designed kennels, offices, overnight quarters, and shower facilities. Additionally, we plan to host community events such as book clubs, AA and NA meetings, grief support groups, and other respectful events the community proposes. Using shipping containers gives our facility the flexibility (and easy cleaning) we will need to meet the needs of our canine, feline, and human guests.
